Christmas Day: Christ, Our Light

Scripture Reading: John 1:1-14; Luke 2:1-21; Matthew 1:23; Colossians 1:15-20
Theme: Christ’s Light with Us, Emmanuel

On Christmas Day, we celebrate the fulfillment of all Advent themes—hope, peace, joy, and love—in Emmanuel, God with us. John declares, “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14), revealing that God Himself stepped into our world to bring light and salvation.

Matthew 1:23 reminds us that Jesus is Emmanuel, meaning “God with us.” In Colossians 1:15-20, Paul affirms the supremacy of Christ, stating that “in him all things hold together.” This is the Light of the World, whose arrival we have prepared for and awaited during Advent. Christ’s coming is not the end but the beginning—a promise of new life and a light that guides us every day.

As we celebrate this Christmas, let us hold fast to the hope, peace, joy, and love we have received and carry this light into the world. May we remember that Christmas is a call to continue shining His light, knowing that Jesus is with us now and always.

Pray with us today:

Almighty God,
On this holy day, we come with hearts full of gratitude and wonder, celebrating the birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Today, we rejoice that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. You sent Your only Son as the light of the world, piercing the darkness and bringing salvation to all who believe.

Lord, we are humbled by the depth of Your love, that You would step into our world to save us. As we gaze upon the manger, we are reminded of Your humility and the incredible gift of Emmanuel—God with us. Fill our hearts with awe and joy as we reflect on the miracle of Christmas.

Help us, Lord, to carry the hope, peace, joy, and love of this season into every day. Let us shine Your light brightly, proclaiming the good news of great joy: a Savior has been born to us, who is Christ the Lord! May our lives glorify You, now and forever.

In the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace and King of Kings, we pray, Amen.
